Yala National Park is the most popular wildlife safari destination in Sri Lanka that located in the south eastern region of Sri Lanka and extends over two provinces of Hambantota district of southern province and Monaragala district in Uva province.
Yala National Park covers 97,878 hectares over the Southern and Uva Provinces. It can see animals like the Sri Lankan Sloth Bear, Sri Lankan Leopard, Sri Lankan Elephant, Wild water buffalo and etc. Of 218 bird species of the park, six are endemic to Sri Lanka. They are Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill, Sri Lanka Jungle fowl, Sri Lanka Wood-pigeon, Crimson-fronted Barbet, Black-capped Bulbul, and Brown-capped Babbler. The reptile fauna recorded from the park is 46 and five of them are endemic: Sri Lankan Krait, Boulangers Keelback, Sri Lankan Flying Snake, Painted-lip Lizard and Wiegmanns Agama.Yala National Park has a larger biodiversity.
